First off, anything at all is possible! However, I have found many people lack the core belief that they can achieve their goals. This is usually because they really don’t believe in themselves or because they don’t know exactly what their goals are. This way, there is a realistic chance of succeeding.

Second, if you have the idea with no plan on how to implement it, you are starting out at a disadvantage. If I can’t convince myself that this business will succeed, why should anyone else? So the first thing I tell people looking for advice is to write down all of their ideas and start forming them into something tangible. What’s the point of an idea if you cannot act on it? We hear so many stories about successful companies but so few about the millions of “what-ifs” that never made it past brainstorming stages because they lacked focus and direction.

Third, get people to believe in you by being 100% genuine. It’s hard to get people to believe that you have what it takes when your business card says “I am an Internet Marketer.” Nobody is going to believe anything you say unless I can see your results for myself. So instead of being fake, be real. Be the person that won’t take “No” for an answer or run from a challenge. If people have doubts about how well you will do, trust me they will find out the hard way.

Fourth, pay for advertising! If you are paying for marketing on your own site, then it is almost certain that not much traffic is coming through your door because there are many free alternatives available. Just because a site is free doesn’t mean that you have to use it. In fact, I find that most free sites are filled with spam and often times you can never view any of the ads or content on those sites. Plus, those sites don’t have credibility because they are not being given their fair chance.

Fifth, have a business plan! People who don’t know where they want to go or what they want out of life usually don’t know what it will take to get there either. Planning helps tremendously by giving direction and sticking to it. It’s much easier to see where you are going when you have a general idea of where you need to end up.

Sixth, be self-motivated. I am constantly saying this to people I meet, but it’s true no matter what you do! Self motivation is the only way to handle the tough times and obstacles that will always be there. Whether you want to learn a new language or earn a degree, it will take time and effort on your end. If you aren’t willing to work hard and try harder, then don’t expect anything good to happen. That’s why most people don’t succeed: they aren’t willing to put forth the effort required for success.

Seventh, network with people who can help you reach your goals! Think of it as a team effort: you help them and they help you. This is a win-win situation that will only benefit you in the long run. If you do a good job for others, chances are they will be willing to help if you need it. And on the other hand, if they see that you are going to go out of your way for them as well as others, then they will want to stick around as a part of your “team.”

Eighth, avoid negative people at all costs! If someone has never been able to do anything positive with their life and has nothing good to say about anyone else’s situation, there’s no reason why I should listen to them and their negativity. A big part of running a successful business is having positive influence and vision at all times. If you are surrounded by negative people, then you are being affected by them just as much as they are affecting you. Not to mention, people with negative energy drain the life out of their surroundings.

Ninth, stay organized! If I can’t find what I need in one place, then it’s most likely because my system is out of order. As long as you have your systems in order, there is nothing stopping you from taking your business to the next level. Everything falls into place when the business world becomes more predictable and organized.

Finally, have fun! This job can be hard at times but you must remember to enjoy it and always be willing to help someone else. Why would anyone want to work with people who don’t care about them or aren’t nice?
